I’m Anette Haug, founder of Equinox Coaching, and I believe what we do here is truly special.
For Robert Redford in the Hollywood movie, it was Horse Whispering. We prefer to call it Horse Listening, the way of training and working with horses in a sympathetic and respectful relationship, just like the Western style of cowboys training their horses for cattle ranching.
It’s called Natural Horsemanship, and it means using gentle and non-aggressive techniques rather than the severe bit, bridle and beatings of conventional practice. Our horses have the freedom to live in a herd, go where they want in the fields and have open stabling and be happy. They are our team, not “business tools,” and Equinox Coaching is not a novelty but a genuine, intelligent management and individual coaching facility.
The horses live in their natural environment, establishing leaders as part of their normal behaviour. By working with them, our clients are able to draw their own conclusions about their behaviour in the office or the Boardroom and find the best way forward. We don’t tell clients what they need to do to change, they work it out themselves. That’s what makes this experience all the more powerful.

In 2003 I bought my first horse and trained in the pioneering John Lyons Natural Horsemanship method in Florida. My second horse joined us soon after. I heard about Equine Guided Leadership and in 2006 trained in this inspirational concept with Horsedream in Germany.
I followed on from this by developing my own leadership development programme to take the amazing knowledge I had learned into the business world. I ran my first Equinox Coaching seminars in Scotland in 2007 and after moving to England in 2010 created my own centre in Sussex within easy reach of London and the South Coast.
I am currently in training with IFEAL finishing my second year so I can provide equine therapy for PTSD and Trauma, for clients to overcome the fear they are not able to face by establishing a safe zone and gently with the help of my horses making them face their fears. My particular interest is developmental PTSD but needless to say all Trauma clients are welcome.
I am also training in Ki Aikido Martial Arts – this enables me to integrate different aspects of Self Development and Self Leadership into my facilitation with clients which makes approach very unique.
