About Me

Hello, my name is Anette Haug, I founded Equinox 15 years ago when I rescued my first horse Ed who was the catalyst in starting me on my journey.

Discovering natural horsemanship made me start to listen and wait, instead of telling my horses what to do, and I found this worked well for myself and my horses.

For example, when I was in a hurry and the horse wouldn’t enter a horse trailer, as soon as I let go of my immediate time worry about time things changed and the horse happily walked into the trailer.

This made me think that if something changes inside me then the horse stops resisting my intentions.

Wanting to explore how I could teach people from my experiences, I started with a 3 year training course in Equine Guided Leadership held in Germany. After that I ran my own courses here on my farm in Sussex. Running these courses confirmed to me that horses can teach people, and after doing this work for 8 years, in 2016 I decided to expand my skills into the world of Equine Guided Therapy and Traumatology.

My studies and learnings are also an evolving process for myself in that I strive to overcome my own traumas and challenges. I can provide you with a safe space to explore your issues, without judgement and at your own pace.

I am a member of the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCP) and have completed the following:

  • IFEEL EFHD (Equine Facilitated Human Development) Facilitator Level 5
  • IFEEL EFPT (Equine Facilitated Psychotraumatology) Facilitator Level 6
  • HorseDream Accredited Leadership Facilitator
  • Equine Shiatsu Practitioner
  • Equine Bowens Practitioner

I am also a student of Ki Aikido, at 4th Kyu level. Ki Aikido is a form of Martial Arts which gives me an added ability to stay aware and focus on the interaction between you and the horses.

Many of my clients have experienced trauma. After working with me, they have been able to live their lives better, with practical tools to cope with their problems. It is up to you whether you take advantage of the help my horses can offer, but I have not had a client yet who did not benefit from being with them.
